Pilger Park is located next to Highway 15. The Park houses a grassed infield baseball field with grand stand & concession stand, shaded picnic tables, restrooms, playground equipment, and a four pad camper unit.
Pilger’s new municipal pool which opened Memorial Day 2008, replaced our old pool which had been in operation since 1956. The pool is open from Memorial Day to mid-August – closes the night before Wisner-Pilger School classes begin. Public swimming lessons are held the first two full weeks in July. Private swimming lessons can be scheduled through the swimming pool manager. Regular pool hours are 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. & 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Special hours occur during Pilger Days.
The Pilger Recreation Area, located 1 mile north and east of Pilger, is a recreation area and dam project managed by the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resource District. The Pilger Recreation area has several picnic shelters for public use as well as fishing and boating opportunities on the lake.
Red Fox Wildlife Management Area
Red Fox Wildlife Management Area, located one mile south of Pilger on Highway 15, has 537 acres along the Elkhorn River. The area includes a 25 acre sandpit lake, a wooded remnant of an oxbow lake, and about 160 acres of grassland. Area wildlife includes deer, pheasant, quail, rabbit, squirrel, and waterfowl.
Pilger Days is held annually the third full weekend in July. This three day events is home to a steak sandwich feed, street dance, kids games, breakfast on Saturday & Sunday, a tractor pull, and many other events. Pilger Days brings many past Pilger residents, guests, and visitors to town for some down home small town fun.
