Wisner-Pilger Middle SchoolFifth & Sixth grade students from Pilger and Wisner (located 8 miles East) attend school in Pilger at Wisner-Pilger Middle School.  The school is located at 350 E 2nd Street.  Kindergarten – Fourth grade students attend Wisner-Pilger Elementary School located in Wisner.  Seventh – Twelfth grade students attend Wisner-Pilger High School which is also located in Wisner.  The School system provides bus transportation to Pilger students picking and dropping off at the middle school. 

Northeast Community College is located 20 miles west of Pilger in Norfolk, Nebraska.  Established by the state legislature in 1973 as a comprehensive community college offering vocational/technical, liberal arts, college transfer, and continuing education, Northeast Community College is a modern, two-year college located at the northeast edge of Norfolk, Nebraska, and serves residents of a 20-county area in northeast Nebraska. Northeast is the only community college in the state with one-and two-year vocational, liberal arts, and adult education programs all on one main campus. 

Wayne State College is located 18 miles north of Pilger in Wayne, Nebraska.  The Wayne State College Mission:  Wayne State College is a comprehensive institution of higher education dedicated to freedom of inquiry, excellence in teaching and learning, and regional service and development. Offering affordable undergraduate and graduate programs, the College prepares students for careers, advanced study, and civic involvement. The number of houses for sale or available for rent changes from time to time as situations change.  Although there are no real estate offices in Pilger there are several area agents who service the area.  A quick drive around town or a call to the clerk’s office would yield a current list of housing available for rent or sale.

Emergency Services
Fire Protection and Emergency Medical Assistance in the Village of Pilger is provided by the nineteen members of the Pilger Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department.  Members carry pagers 24/7 and respond to vehicle accidents, illnesses, various accidents, structure fires, vegetation fires, and other misc emergency calls. 

Pilger Fire & Rescue is dispatched through Norfolk Dispatch Center located at the Norfolk Police Station in Norfolk, Nebraska.  Pilger Rescue transports to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Providence Medical Center in Wayne, and St. Francis Medical Center in West Point.

Pilger Volunteer Fire and Rescue DepartmentEmergencies outside the village limits are provided by Pilger’s Department with the funding assistance of the Stanton County Rural Fire District.  First call response area is 108 square miles.  The department has mutual aid agreements with Stanton Fire, Stanton Rescue, and all members of the Cuming County Mutual Aid Group. Fire and Rescue trainings are held at various days though each month. 

The fire insurance classification within the Village limits is 7.  Class 9 applies to properties outside the village limits that are within 5 road miles of the fire station.  Class 10 applies to properties located more than 5 road miles from the fire station.
