Bill to allow Wyoming students to waive mask and shooting rules

A bill that is being proposed for next week’s special session of the Wyoming legislature would grant waivers to face mask mandates and immunization requirements for K-12 students whose parents request them .

Regarding vaccine requirements, the bill says “Waivers of administration of required vaccines for preventable diseases should be granted by the state or county health officer at the request of the child’s parent, legal guardian, or other adult person. authorized to consent to the medical treatment of the child requesting the exemption. The state or county health official will grant the requested immunization waiver within seven (7) business days of receipt. “

The language of the bill refers to “vaccinations against preventable diseases ” not just specifically for COVID-19 vaccinations.

The legislature is due to meet Oct. 26-29 in a session that was called to push back President Biden’s vaccine tenure.
