Missouri No.3 hosts two Top 25 Saturday duels for Alumni Weekend
COLUMBIA, Missouri – Missouri’s No.3 fight (3-0, 3-0 Big 12) will host No.17 Northern Iowa and No.10 Virginia Tech for the Mizzou Tri-Dual at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. CT, respectively, Saturday at Hearnes Center. The Panthers and Hokies will face off at 3:00 p.m. CT. The three duels with stream on ESPN + with Beau Baehman and Matt manley on call for the Tigers clashes.
In addition to the duels, Mizzou will once again host nearly 90 almuni and all of his former wrestling coaches alive for Alumni Weekend, which includes a tailgate at Hearnes Fieldhouse starting at 3 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets for Saturday’s duels at MUTigers.com/TigerStyleTix.
The confrontations
Mizzou will first face northern Iowa (0-0, 0-0 Big 12) for the first time as a conference opponent since the Panthers moved from the MAC to the Big 12 after the 2016-17 season. . This meeting will be the 10th consecutive year that the two teams face each other. In their last game, the Tigers beat the No. 20 Panthers 34-6 in neutral Ames, Iowa. Seven of Mizzou’s starters in the last duel are expected to fight on Saturday.
The title fight for the afternoon will be at 184 pounds as a No.10 Jeremiah Kent will look to defend his home stack against 2021 US No.4 Parker Keckeisen. The duel will also see matches rated at 125 pounds, 165 pounds and 285 pounds.
The Tigers’ game against the Top 10 Hokies (1-1, 0-0 ACC) is the highest-ranked game at Hearnes Center in nearly three years (No. 5 Mizzou vs. No. 2 Oklahoma State, 02/16/19 ). After a one-year hiatus, both programs will resume their annual reunion with stacked teams featuring ranked fights in seven weight classes. Biggest clash of the night will come at 174 pounds with No.9 Peyton mocco battling 2019 NCAA Champion No.4 Mehki Lewis. Kent will also fight in another top 10 fight against No.9 Hunter Bolen.

Missouri will travel to Niceville, Florida for Journeyman Wrestling’s new Collegiate Wrestling Duals on Monday and Tuesday, December 20-21. The round robin style tournament will feature a game of pool before entering a placement duel. The Tigers will face Binghamton and the No. 6 North Carolina State in the pool.
