Marshall, Missouri, (November 3, 2021) – The Missouri Valley College men’s soccer team closed the regular season last week with a pair of wins and advanced in the latest NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 poll, released on Wednesday .

The Vikings men’s soccer team remains in the top ten and climbed two spots to place eighth this week. The team have won twice in the final classification period, beating No.17 MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.), 2-1, then followed with a 12-1 victory at Culver-Stockton (Mo.) for complete the regular season, the most goals scored in a single game since 2010.

Missouri Valley is one of four teams in the Heart of America Athletic Conference ranked nationally this week. Central Methodist (Mo.) stayed at No.1, MidAmerica Nazarene stayed at No.17 and William Penn (Iowa) earned a spot at No.23.

The Vikings are 3-2 this season against currently ranked teams. Missouri Valley defeated 7th Columbia (Mo.), 2-1, 17th MNU, 2-1 and 24th Ottawa (Arizona), 3-1. The losses happened to No.1 Central Methodist and No.23 William Penn.

Missouri Valley finished the regular season with a 13-4 overall record and a 9-3 record in the Heart. The team won the second seed in the Heart Postseason tournament, which begins on Friday.

The Vikings host Park (Mo.), the No. 7 seed, in the Heart Postseason quarterfinals on Friday at 7 p.m. inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium. Missouri Valley lost to the Pirates on the road on Sept. 15, 2-1 in overtime.
