No top team lost, but new faces in the Iowa Week 4 high school rankings

Our ranked teams therefore did better in week 3 than they did in week 2. In a way.

In total, the teams that made up our Week 2 top 10 got a total of 53-17, and 11 of those 17 teams lost to other ranked teams, either in the same class or another.

Progress? May be.

Each of our seven No.1 teams kept their places at the start of Week 4: Southeast Polk in class 5A, North Scott in class 4A, Harlan in class 3A, Spirit Lake in class 2A, Van Meter in class 1A, West Hancock in class A and Audubon with 8 players.

Overall, there weren’t too many changes in each individual survey.

COVER FROM FRIDAY EVENING

Class 5A was turned upside down, after Ankeny beat Dowling Catholic, Cedar Falls knocked down Cedar Rapids Prairie and Valley beat Urbandale. Linn-Mar improved to 3-0 after an 18-7 victory over Pleasant Valley, and jumped to No.10.

Class 4A has seen the most changes. Winterset, Cedar Rapids Washington, Norwalk and Pella all made it into the top 10, giving way to Waverly-Shell Rock, Fort Madison, Newton and Oskaloosa.

The rest of the polls saw minor changes.

Ankeny High senior running back Colin Kadolph (32) fights for a first down as defending 4A State champion Ankeny Hawks faces the Dowling Catholic Maroons in the first half of the Game of Week 3, Friday September 10, 2021, at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines.

ADM, now 3-0, is in the top 10 in 3A. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, Cherokee and Clarke have joined the squad in 2A, Alta-Aurelia is now No.10 in Class A and New London and WACO are both ranked in the 8-player poll. Class 1A has the same 10 teams as last week, but West Sioux is now No.10 instead of No.2.

Maybe we finally have a handle on this thing.

May be.
