RP Lumber expands and acquires Malcom Lumber in Iowa
GRINNELL, Iowa – Illinois lumber and hardware retailer RP Lumber has expanded its presence in the Midwest with the acquisition of Malcom Lumber.
âWe are delighted to expand our presence in Iowa and to work diligently to serve the communities of Oskaloosa and Grinnell with quality products for many years to come,â said Robert Plummer, President and CEO of the management of RP Lumber. âMalcom Lumber has long been a respected name in Iowa. We couldn’t be more excited to work with the teams at these sites, adding inventory, additional services and gaining the trust of our customers, âhe added.
âWe understood that Malcolm Lumber’s ownership wanted to pass and we were excited to step in and work with them to put this deal together,â said Jason Plummer, vice president of PR. âAfter visiting the team members at these two locations, we knew this would be a good choice. We are a family business and share the same culture and work ethic that we found in these stores and in these communities. “
Based in Edwardsville, IL, RP Lumber opened its first site in Staunton, IL in 1977 and has continued to grow in the states of Illinois, Missouri and Wyoming. In February 2021, RP Lumber opened its 72nd location – and the first in Iowa – when it acquired Dick-N-Sons Lumber from Blue Grass.
The transaction closed on Monday July 26, 2021. The two Malcom Lumber sites began operating under the RP Lumber brand on July 27.
