State of San José @ State of Colorado
Current records: San José State 3-2; Colorado State 1-3
What there is to know
After two games on the road, the Colorado State Rams are heading home. Their week off ends as they meet the San Jose State Spartans at 3:30 p.m. ET at Canvas Stadium on Saturday. SJSU will strut after a win while the Rams stumble after a loss.
Colorado State fell to the Iowa Hawkeyes two weeks ago, losing 24-14. Despite the loss, Colorado State got a solid performance from QB Todd Centeio, who had a touchdown and 155 yards on 30 attempts in addition to rushing for a touchdown and 31 yards.
Meanwhile, SJSU didn’t have too much leeway in their game with the New Mexico State Aggies last week, but they still came away with a 37-31 victory. SJSU QB Nick Nash threw him as he passed for three touchdowns and 195 yards on 17 attempts. Nash’s performance made up for a slower clash against the West Michigan Broncos two weeks ago.
Colorado State is the favorite in this one, with an expected margin of victory of 3.5 points. They might be worth trying their hand at ATS as they are currently on a two-game winning streak against ATS.
The Rams are now 1-3 while the Spartans are 3-2. Two defensive stats to watch: Colorado State is the 159th worst in the country in passing yards allowed per game, averaging 239. SJSU has had his own passing struggles as he stumbles into the contest with the 189th most TDs allowed in the country, after allowing eight in the season. It’s possible that one of those Achilles heels will end up tripping the losing team.
