After 14 years of ranked versus ranked clashes, the Alabama-LSU rivalry has now sidelined for two consecutive seasons.

The No. 3 Crimson Tide (7-1, No. 2 CFP) are once again a huge favorite against the struggling Tigers (4-4). Alabama handed LSU the most unbalanced loss in the series since the 1920s last year when Tide won 55-17 at Baton Rouge.

The rivalry returns to Tuscaloosa on Saturday, where LSU scored its biggest win – aside from perhaps the 2019 national championship game – under the guidance of outgoing coach Ed Orgeron two years ago.

Joe Burrow and Co. beat the Tide 46-41 to end an eight-game losing streak against Alabama.

Alabama-LSU is just another game on the Week 10 schedule, which features just one Ranked vs. Ranked game, but a few opportunities for intriguing surprises.

N ° 12 Auburn to N ° 13 Texas A&M

Both teams are still in the SEC West race, but probably can’t afford another loss if they are to catch up with Alabama.

The Tigers are looking for a third straight win over ranked rival SEC West since being beaten by Georgia. Tank Bigsby just won his best game of the season (140 rushing yards on 23 carries) last week in a win over Ole Miss.

The Aggies are on a three-game winning streak that started with an upset from Alabama.

Sam Hartman, QB, Wake Forest

The senior leads the undefeated, 10th-seeded Demon Deacons in non-conference games (yes, really) against North Carolina on Saturday.

Hartman isn’t getting the Heisman buzz, but his numbers compare well to those that are. For example: Bryce Young of Alabama is fifth in the country in passing efficiency (177.10) with 2,453 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and three interceptions.

Hartman is sixth in efficiency (175) with 2,475 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and three interceptions. Hartman also has six rushing touchdowns compared to Young’s two.

2 – Iowa State winning streak against Texas. The Cyclones had never beaten the Longhorns (4-4) in back-to-back games before last year and they now have a chance to score three straight in Austin. Iowa State (5-3) is trying to hang on to fake Big 12 title hopes.

14-2 – Oregon’s record No. 7 against Washington in the last 16 games. Most of them have been blowouts, even the victories of the two Huskies. But for the past two years, the Ducks’ cumulative margin of victory has been seven points.

16 – Number of victories Purdue has won against the top five unranked opponents – including against the No.2 Iowa last month – most by any team in the country. The Boilermakers welcome Michigan State No. 5.

94 – No. 8 Notre Dame and the Navy play for the 94th time on Saturday. The rivalry took a hiatus last season due to schedules altered by the pandemic. The Irish have won three in a row and eight of nine, which is nothing compared to Notre Dame’s 43-game winning streak against the Navy from 1964 to 2006.

8,752 —- The number of days since TCU played a game without Gary Patterson as a member of the coaching staff. No.14 Baylor is visiting the Horned Frogs this week for TCU’s first game since Patterson was sent off after nearly 24 years as head coach and defensive coordinator.

The Falcons (6-2) can win the Commander-in-Chief’s trophy for the first time since 2016 by defeating the Black Knights (4-3) on Saturday.

The Air Force already has a victory over the struggling Navy (2-6).

Army has won the trophy three of the past four seasons and would at least keep it by beating the Falcons. If each team wins a match in the round robin between the service academies, it remains with the winner of the previous season.

As usual, this is a clash between two of the best racing teams in the country. Air Force leads the nation with 318 rushing yards per game and Army is second at 312.

Steve Addazio, State of Colorado

Addazio’s short tenure at Colorado State has been difficult almost from the start and due to last year’s abbreviated schedule he has only coached 12 games.

The Rams are 4-8 under him, including 3-5 this season. This is a program that longs to land in a richer conference someday, but got stuck in the second level of Mountain West for a while.

Colorado State faces a rivalry game against Wyoming this weekend, looking to break a three-game losing streak. Addazio needs to turn the situation around quickly.
